Brian's cricketing career originated in a cornfield (and some say should have stayed there!). At an early age he learnt the skills of batting and bowling after the local farmer had finished harvesting.
Brian made his Saturday league debut at the age of 18 for Compton Cricket Club in the Northampton Town League, top scoring with 13 (including 3 fours caressed through the slips). The highlight of his career at Compton was leading them out at The Country Ground in the 1996 Garnett Cup final.
His Sundays are spent playing for the Northampton Cavaliers - a highly successful team who spend their summers educating local sides in the art of cricket.
After being spotted by Huncote's Chief scout - Auntie Polly - he made a couple of guest appearances in the 1999 season before being signed up for the 2000 season. As he travels from Northampton each week Brian obviously enjoys playing for Huncote CC. It certainly is a mystery why - the teas? the women? the beer? the "boys"? or it it the chance to watch the Silk's batting each week?
After a fairly successful season, picking up the coveted "Thanks for turning up award" he has decided to carry on his cricketing career with Huncote. His main short term ambition is to prove to his team mates that throwing pies and taking wickets is no fluke - he does have some idea of what he is trying to do with his bowling.
Brian's batting has been based on his schoolboy idol - Geoffrey Boycott - whom he spent many days watching bat, although failed to see him score many runs.
Brian classes himself as a specialist slip fielder - this is not due to his sharp reflexes and catching ability but because he cannot be bothered to run in the field.
He looks forward to a successful 2001 season, plenty of sunshine and nice teas.
Hopes for the season

· To see us go through whole game without dropping any catches.
· To see Dewsy lose another stone in weight!
