14th JULY
Cosby CC V Huncote II CC (11 points) - Losing Draw for Huncote.

Huncote realy dug in this game and were unlucky to come out with a losing draw. After losing the toss, stand in skipper Peter Kirby was relieved to see Cosby bat first. Some indifferent opening bowling saw Cosby get off to a flyer. A change was made and on came debutee JJ who was also wallopped to start with.

PK kept faith with the off spinner, and this patience was rewarded when he took 5 wickets. Stan also came on towards the end, and bowled excellently taking 4 for 21 off 10 overs. Mention must also go to the Huncote field, who performed admirably, and also to stand in keeper Alan Sommer who was excellent behind the stumps.

Huncote's old guard came forward with the bat, particularily the star Al Sommer, who rolled back the years, with a stylish 58 runs, top scoring in the match. Al was infact very unlucky to be caught on the boundary. Stan provided support, as did JJ, and in the end Smut and Craig batted well to leave Huncote 10 to win with 4 wickets in hand, with one over left.

Webby went for it but unfortunatly skied to mid wicket and Smut was left to fend off for a well earned draw. A smashing game, and a good performance from the boys, who go into next weeks clash with Ivanoe full of confidence.
