20th MAY
Huncote CC V Runway XI (Friendly) - Runway win by 1 wicket

MOM : Tim Kirby - 42, 7.4-2-12-2

The scramble to get eleven players dominated the build up to this game. Once the game was declared playable and Ruth had bought the tea, it was game on, and also signalled the return of Jacko. PK lost the toss and was put in to bat.

Ian and Tim dominated scoring and some good Runway bowling restricted the Huncote total 154 from their 40 overs. Brewin and Matty both fell to the Runway opener, and Jacko was bowled last ball of the innings. Mention too must go to Frazer who got his first runs in men's cricket.

The tea was great with Strewth Ruth back to her best and the Huncote players went out to bowl at a Runway 10 man side, knowing they had the bowlers to win the match. Sportingly the Leicestershire team bowled all their bowlers and this lead to an exciting climax, with Runway needing 6 to win, Huncote needing just the one wicket.

It was left to Tim to finish it off, and unfortunately Jacko could not top a fine performance with the winning catch, dropping at mid wicket to hand the game to Runway. Still it was a good game and played in fine spirit. Tim Kirby was the pick of some good bowling, but the final word goes to PK who decided it was a good idea to slide in the mud patch, causing the whole field, even the caravaners, to break out in laughter!!
