24th JUNE
Willaby Waterlies V Huncote CC (Friendly) Willaby win by 4 wickets

MOM : Ian Crossley - 89*, 5.5-0-41-3

A great game at Dunton Basset's quality ground. Willaby won with one ball left, but as this is a Sunday, the main winner here is the game of cricket. Jamie lost the toss and luckily for him was put into bat.

Huncote made 229 for 6, with Crossley 89 not out, top scoring. Stuart Ross made a quick fire, quality 40 runs, and the whole team supported. Jamie went on a no ball and umpire Jacko got his come upance for not calling it, when he was run out without facing a ball. Pete Kirby came in at the end and entertained the crowd, and the Somner's again showed their quality with the bat.

Pete Kirby thought this was a commanding total, and because of this bowled Waine and Brewin through their 8. This proved costly later on as Waine would have been perfect at the death. The team tried hard, and bowled well, but good batting from Willaby forced them back. Fielding was hard going in the heat, and it was down to the skipper, PK, to take the two catches which dismissed both openers.

Jacko bowled well, but was clumped at the death, so it was left to the Silkman Ian Crossley to bowl the last over, with Willaby needing 8 to win. A wide, a four, a two, a dot ball, and a wicket later, Willaby needed two from 2 balls. Huncote did not want to tie so brought the field in, only for the ball to beat them for the winning runs. A good game on a beautiful day!!
