Six-A-Side Rules - 4th July 2004
For a full schedule of times, and the draw for the teams click here......... Each team must have six players ready to start the game at the scheduled time. A team having less than six players ready will forfeit the game. Squad sizes are not limited. Each team will bowl five overs; the wicket keeper does not bowl and must be designated at the start of the match, as does the rest of the team. The final will be 10 overs with each player bowling 2, time permitting. There is no toss during the group phase, as each side bats first in one match, and then bowls first in the other. Innings are split to keep the cricket moving, it is therefore important to be ready for your match. Teams will toss a coin in the knockout phase. The same team must play in both innings, barring injuries. Injured players may be directly replaced during a game at the discretion of the event organisers, and cannot then return. Injured players cannot replace the wicket keeper. Teams are awarded 3 points for a win in the group stages and 1 point for a tie (same score, wickets ignored). The top team from each group will go through to the semi finals, as well as the best-placed runner up. The placing of the teams will be decided on points awarded, then net run rate. In the event of a tied score in the knockout phase, the winner shall be
decided in the following order: Last man stands apply. At the fall of the fifth wicket, if more overs or balls are left, the batsman dismissed shall act as runner with the remaining batsman. If the runner is dismissed in any way, such as run out, this will count as the last batsman being out, thus terminating the innings. Each bowler is allowed to bowl ONE delivery down the legside, which does not come into contact with either the batsman's body or bat and is deemed a legitimate delivery in the standard rules of cricket. Upon bowling the second delivery down the legside, the umpire shall signal a wide. Underarm bowling is not permitted. The bowlers must have a run up which starts between the marked line and the wicket. All no balls and wides count as two runs and an additional ball. All front foot no balls shall warrant a free hit for the extra ball. The umpire shall signal the free hit to both sides and the scorers. Short-pitched balls above the shoulder height will be called no balls. The square leg umpire will call the no ball in the event of a ball passing over the 'batsman's' shoulder height, when standing. Full Tosses above the waist will be called no balls. All fielders cannot be on one side of the wicket (leg or offside). The umpires and the tournament organisers' decision will be deemed final. |
