Huncote Spearheads V Mossdale Hailstorm 31/08/03 - Huncote win by 81 runs This week saw the final Spearhead game off the season, the visitors to the Huncote Bowl, the Mossdale Hailstorm. With a few Huncote players suffering from the previous nights party, a very reluctant 11 was assembled. Included in that was Ian Crossley who then decided to smash a 105 ball 108, hitting 15 fours and a six. Crossley was well supported throught the innings, Brewin 40 (38 balls), Sommer 18 (27 balls), Tim Kirby 14 (26 balls), Adcock 13* (14 balls), but the highlight had to be Mitch Hubbards 21 from only 8 balls, including hugh consecutive sixes. The Spearhead total of 241-7 looked ominous.
The Hailstorm top order had other ideas, and although Ben Crossley removed Hunt for 0, Smith and Phull tucked into the bowling. Phull's 50 came up in quick fashion, before he was dismissed by Sommer in the 13th over. Sommer then demolised the middle order, the Hailstorm with no response to his clever bowling, finishing with 4 for 21. Tim Kirby removed the dangerous Smith and then the bowling was shared round.
In the end it was fitting for Mitch Hubbard to take the winning wicket, but mention must also go to Frazer Hubbard, who took two excellent catches, and a smart stumping, showing his class behind the wickets. A good game, well played out, Crossley's brilliant innings earning him MOM. Man of the Match- Ian Crossley
