Willoughby Waterlies Bassets V Huncote Spearheads 24/06/03 - Bassets win by 6 Wickets

A well paced run chase by the home side was enough to take this game from the Spearheads. Willoughby elected to bowl, and Ian Crossley (34) and Pete Kirby (30), top scored. Tim Kirby was given a poor one by the standing John Wayne Umpire Crossley, Carl Sommer was caught well, but other than that only Frazer Hubbard, and Ben Crossley, showed any fight.

Good bowling from the home team restricted the score to 141 all out. Tea was a good one and the Bassets made a solid start in their reply. Wayne and John Smith both bowled tightly, but it took the intervention of young Swann to get the first wicket. Well caught in the deep by Hubbard. Three other wickets fell, Crossley senior with 2, and young Ben Crossley with 1. The MOM for Huncote has to go to the younger quicky for battling batting and a decent little spell. Crossley senior unlucky to miss out on an umpiring technicality.
