Ashby Hastings Archers V Huncote Spearheads 13/06/04 - Huncote win by 20 runs

A good match played in excellent spirit at a very picturesque ground.  Huncote skipper Pete Kirby won the toss and elected to bat.  The early loss of James Brewin brought Tim Kirby to join Max Swords and the two put on a decent partnership.  A middle order collapse saw Pete Kirby join his brother, shortly after the big right hander had reached his 50.  Pete Kirby continued his younger brothers work as he dispatched the indifferent bowling around the park, his 81 coming off 54 balls.  200-8 a decent target.

Some interesting bowling in reply saw three wickets for Adcock in his opening burst, although the Archer's batsmen were always up with the rate.  Wickets kept falling though as Sommer picked up two, and Jason Scrimshire and Chris Farmer also got one apiece.  A run out left the Ashby side with two wickets in hand needing 20 off 4 overs, but Tim Kirby struck twice in quick succession to bowl the Archers out for 180, 20 runs short.

Man of the match goes to Pete Kirby for some entertaining slogging at the end of the Spearhead's innings.
