Barwell Gambits V Huncote Spearheads 25/07/04 - Huncote Win by 4 Wickets

An impressive performance from the Spearheads who were met by a team expecting an easy win.  After winning the toss and deciding to bat, Gambit captain, Aucott, explained what a good side they had out.  The Spearheads replied by bowling them out for 138.  Pete Kirby the pick of the bowlers, for once bowling a good line and length and extracting some turn.  His 3-14 was aided by some good bowling from Scrimshire, Swann, Crossley and on debut Joshi.  Brewin sprayed it around a bit, but picked up key wickets to restrict the upper order.

Despite the early loss of Sommer, Crossley and Jamie Smith made light work of the run chase.  Each batsmen scoring 34 before falling in quick succession.  Despite the loss of Farmer, Joshi and Brewin, Swann and Tim Kirby finished the job.  Kirby finished strongly, hitting a number of boundaries to reach the target with overs to spare.
