Huncote 2nd V Leicester Caribbean 2nd 22/05/04 - Caribbeans Won By 99 Runs

The younger guys of the team turned up early at the ground on a beautiful hot day to do some fielding practice and to help prepare the club for some cricketing action! Huncote won the toss and elected to field first on a good looking track. JW Smith and J Swann opened the bowling for the home side and bowled well restricting the batsmen to only a few singles. Swann bowled one of the openers and then after a mix up with the new batsman the other opener soon followed getting ran out by Adcock and Hubbard combined, the fielding practice paying dividends.

Ben Crossley then  replaced Swann and bowled Mahmood with his second ball again, and then got his second of the game Hubbard claiming his first catch of 4.  Stratford Replaced Smith and got two further wickets. One caught Hubbard, one caught Spencer. The away side were rocking on 86-6 but then Monty Millete came to the crease and started to swing the bat and launched some huge sixes one going through the new open patio doors and into the kitchen! He formed a good partnership with Sangha moving the Caribbeans up to a good score. Swann then came on for his second spell removing both Millete (59) and Sangha both caught behind Hubbard (4 catches in the match). The Caribbeans no.9 Khan then came in and was obviously a very good batsmen crashing 37n.o off not very balls. The Caribbeans eventually finishing on 213-8.

Tea was taken and the opening partnership of Spencer and Lill took to the field. Lill hit an early 4 but was dismissed for 6 by the dangerous Sangha. Sir Alan Sommer (0) followed bowled, McEntee scored 5 before being bowled by Sangha, Spencer soon followed for a well played 30 including a big six down the ground, bowled yet again by.......Sangha. Adcock departed for 0......bowled, Swann (6) and Hubbard(4) faced 79 balls between them for their 10 both departed after being......bowled. Then Stratford recovered some pride smashing 25 n.o including some great fours, Geoff Farmer added 6 to the board, Ben Crossley 10 including a couple of great cover drives for 4. JW being the last Huncote man out Caught behind first ball. Huncote all out for 113 including nine batsmen being bowled. Sangha finishing with figures of 10.5-2-34-5
