Earl Shilton Eagles V Huncote Spearheads 23/05/04 - Spearheads Win By 47 Runs

Pete Kirby, Spearhead skipper, won the toss and elected to bat, on a good surface, and a nice looking ground.  The captain then opened the batting with Brian Driver, and the pair looked good, picking up ones and twos, before looking to attack after the 15 over mark.  Pete Kirby was first to reach his 50, favouring the leg side.  Kirby though fell soon after, attempting another big hit.

Mitch Hubbard looked tidy and was unlucky to be caught at midwicket, but Craig Webb joined Driver, who soon passed fifty.  Webb looked in top form hitting some good shots, the pair adding over a hundred before Driver was bowled for an excellent 78.  McEntee came and went, and Sommer helped Webb ease the score to 219-4.  For Shilton,  Simmons looked a good prospect as did a number of the youthful home side.

The Spearheads bowled very well, restricting the Eagles opening pair of the two Chamberlains.  Both were scoring well, until Carl Sommer straightened one and Tony Chamberlain was caught at midwicket.  Jason Scrimshire struck soon after, getting revenge on Kyle Chamberlain, who had hit him for several boundaries.  Earlier Swann and Crossley had opened the bowling very tidily.

New Zealander Barnaby Howard looked to keep the run chase in check, but despite his fifty, the Spearheads maintained control throughout.  Some excellent bowling from Mark Scrimshire sent Howard back as Brewin took a good stumping.  McEntee bowled well picking up a couple of wickets and the visitors won by 47 runs.  A good game, played in excellent spirit.  MOM to Driver who paced his innings really well.
