Swallows Green 1st V Huncote 1st 07/08/04 - Huncote gain winning draw

Tim Kirby bowls at Hinckley 07/08/04

Huncote gain winning draw at Hinckley

Huncote skipper Ian Crossley won the toss and elected to bat, Crossley getting Huncote off to a good start with 49 before being bowled. With Huncote 117-5 they needed a good partnership to set a challenging total on a good wicket. Enter James Brewin to join Tim Kirby, the pair adding 134 off 14 overs with Kirby 47 off 52 balls the quiet partner as Brewin smashed 101 not out off 49 balls. The innings included 7 sixes and 10 fours in a stunning display of batting. Huncote declaring on 258-6.

In reply Hinckley got off to a good but slow start before deciding maybe they should have a go at the total Ray Haddon 55 and Kenny Burke 47 setting up a solid base. Some big hitting from Ley 47 not out and John Healey 31 put up a good effort but Tim Kirby and Wayne Smith held their nerve. Hinckley needing 8 an over for the last 15 but could only manage 206-5 with some good death bowling. Smith the pick of the bowling with 19 overs 3 for 63 in the blistering heat.

Man of the Match has to go to James Brewin for his blistering innings in the heat.
