Northampton Cavaliers V Huncote Spearheads 08/08/04 - Cavaliers Win by 30 Runs

It started on a bright sunny day and everybody was happy until PK lost the toss and they elected to bat.

Driver and Hubbard opened the bowling with an early wicket in Betty's 2nd over an easy slip catch by TK!!! And then one in Hubbard's 3rd. No wickets came for a while after but TK bowled a good spell of 3 overs that went for 5 runs. Sideshow then bowled awesomely 5 overs 3 maidens 5 runs for 2 wickets, which made the game tighter once again. With some good scores of 53 from P.Lill and 40 from S.Neal meant they posted a good total of 158 for 8.

A lovely tea was consumed and then back out onto the field for the start off Huncote's innings.

It started off badly and stayed that way, Betty was bowled for 0 then Swords was curiously looking for a single when the keeper had the ball in his hands and was run out for 0 Jimmy joined in with the action and lofted one to cover for 0 then Hubbard joined the crease and was dismissed first ball, then T Kirby battled for a while before he was caught for 2, the top 5 batsman's making a grand total of 2 runs. But lucky for Huncote Swann and B Crossley came to the rescue and played some good shots until Swann was bowled by a jaffa, the rest of the team batted well with a 20 to Jason's name and a good solid 11 from young Aaron Randall.

A funny game that was rounded off by a splendid curry in Lutterworth for the Huncote lads, and just remember boys and girls it's not about winning is taking part that counts.
