Huncote 2nd V Leicester Taveners 2nd XI 01/08/04 - Taveners Win By 71 Runs

On another sweltering day at the Spearing and Waite bowl Huncote crashed for the second time in that weekend against Taverners. Huncote fielded first, openers Swann and Smith toiled hard in the heat but the breakthrough never came. Both Wrights scored runs and it wasn't until the introduction of Knibbs into the attack that a wicket fell. Wright jnr edging behind to Hubbard for 37. R Smith scored slowly reached 40 before Wright snr perished to the bowling of Stratford and Smith getting stumped off the bowling off the returning JW Smith. Stratford also picked up the key wickets of P Kirby (26), C Marvell (24) and A Dyke (0) to leave himself with figures of 11-3-37-4.

Swann dismissed Loom for 11 and Hubbard picked up his third stumping of the innings to dismiss Knott for 6 leaving L Dyke 3 and K Dyke 2 not out at the end. The Taverners innings ending on 192-8. L Dyke caused mass trouble at the top of the Huncote order with the inform Spencer and Lill departing for ducks. Stratford returned to the pavilion after one ball getting done by a slower ball from L Dyke. Sommer 25 and Smith 19 put up some resistance before Sommer was dismissed after gloving a bouncer behind. Swann departed first ball by one that rolled and bowled him and Webb didn't last much longer either Looms claiming all three wickets.

Jamie Smith was bowled by Knott to bring in Hubbard and Farmer who made a good partnership and gave some resistance before Hubbard was caught for a well worked 24. Knibbs left the arena second ball for 0 to leave JW Smith and Farmer to hold up the innings. Smith lasted a few overs before he was out caught by L Dyke off the bowling of Looms to leave Farmer not out 30 and Huncote all out 121.
