A disappointing performance from Huncote, but take nothing away from Walton who deserved their win. Too many mistakes early on in the field, and too many with the bat saw Huncote leave with just 5 points. Kettle was the main man in the Walton innings as Kirby and Sommer picked up wickets. 134 for 8 was not that bad a score on an indifferent track with no bounce or pace.
Huncote made hard work of the chase and were left needing 6 runs off the last over with only one wicket in tact. Frank Hubbard had grafted well throughout to reach the final over, but his only support of any note throughout the innings was James Brewin's 26 ball 31. Hubbard managed to get two runs off the first ball, but was run out by Blood with a precise kick off the second to confirm the defeat.
Credit to Huncote for never settling for the draw, but disappointing batting meant only 5 points and surrendering top spot in the table. Blood and Jones bowled well on the surface provided, but it is back to the drawing board for the Huncote batsmen.
