A warm-up game at the Spearing Waite Huncote Bowl, saw the Huncote players get into the swing of a new season. Some familiar faces were met with a few new ones, as Mark Schutz, Jason Scrimshire and Dave Horsecraft joined the fray. Names were drew out the hat, as Crossley’s team won the toss and Stratford’s side were put in. Good scores from Alan Sommer and Max Swords, were helped by scores over the 30 retirement mark by Tim Kirby and Pete Kirby. James Swann, Paul Knibbs and Mark Schutz the pick of the bowlers. 158 on a damp track off the allotted 40 overs looked good, and this was followed by a cracking tea. 

Crossley and Horsecraft opened the reply, but good bowling from the spinners, Scrimshire and Pete Kirby, and the swing of Alan Sommer soon pegged them back. Schutz then took the bowling apart, aided by a spirit knock by newcomer Jason Scrimshire. Some big blows around the ground. He looked to be running out of partners until Knibbs struck a few good shots to see the Crossley Creamers home. All in all a good practice match and a good performance from Mark Schutz on the day. Lets hope he continues this well into the season.
