Whetstone 1st V Huncote 1st 28/08/04 - Huncote Win by 7 Wickets

Haroon Khawaja's quality knock turned what looked a tricky run chase into a comfortable affair.  Cracking batting from the number 3 made the Whetstone total of 131 all out look under par.  He was well supported by first Mark Schutz, then Tim Kirby, the later finishing not out 22, with Khawaja still there on 62.

Earlier Wayne Smith picked up 4 early wickets to restrict the home side, before Tim Kirby finished the job with 4 late wickets.  Two run outs, both involving Carl Sommer, meant the side from Whetstone could not complete the 45 overs.  Good team effort by Huncote against a side who may feel they have underachieved this season with the talent they obviously have.

With Broughton Astley losing out to Woodhouse in the other top of the table clash, Huncote toasted the night away safe in the knowledge they would be playing Premier division cricket next year.
