A good match played on an unpredictable wicket at the Spearing Waite Huncote Bowl. Willoughby skipper, Simon Lark won the toss and asked the Spearheads to bat. Usual opener Max Swords was joined by Carl Sommer as the home side started slowly. Wickets soon fell and it was up to skipper Pete Kirby to bag some runs, hitting 47 and annoying opposition bowler, Senior. All in good spirits though. Everyone chipped in and a score of 181 looked to be a good one.
Willoughby had a good looking batting card and kept up with the rate, despite early losses and some good bowling from Driver, Crossley and Swann. Chris Farmer took a few hefty blows but kept coming, as Connelly past 50. With 60 needed from the last ten overs, Tim Kirby and Carl Sommer kept things tight to leave 6 needed from the last over and only two wickets in hand. Kirby held his nerve to bowl out the visitors and Huncote won by just three runs.
A great game and MOM to Brian Driver who added some vital late runs, and also bowled very well at the start of the reply.
