Huncote 1st V Bharat 03/09/2005 - Huncote Win by 9 Wickets

Huncote sealed the top spot in the Leicestershire Senior League with a comfortable 9 wicket win over a dangerous Bharat side.  Luke Dyke was the hero, as he bowled a fantastic spell, taking 6-51 from his 12 over spell.  Bharat captain, Ashok Patel, won the toss and elected to bat on a decent pitch.

Vishal and Davinder both looked in good touch, hitting a number of early boundaries getting the scoreboard rolling.  Both were caught playing across the line as Dyke then Smith picked up wickets.  Dyke continued to rip through the middle order, including a Brewin catch in the covers, before Rashmi took on the bowling with a 6 over point off the young Huncote quickie.

Wendell and Pete Kirby took over from Dyke and Smith, and both bowled tightly restricting the runs.  Wendell picked up the big hitting Rashmi, before Kirby had Dipesh caught in the deep.  Pritesh offered some late resistance, before Wendell picked up his second wicket to wrap up the innings.

Tea was solid and the Huncote openers took to the field in confident mood.

Hubbard senior and Wendell opened up, and it was Hubbard who looked to get going first.  Wendell hit a few shots skywards, before settling in, and a solid opening partnership of 72 was recorded.  Hubbard was caught at cover for a decent 25 as Tim Kirby joined Wendell at the crease.  Soon the big opener past 50 as Kirby started to hit boundaries too.

With the target in reach, Kirby pulled Vishal to the square leg boundary, and the title was in the bag.

Huncote celebrated late into the night, and it took a lot of hard work throughout the season to make this possible.  Mentions to the whole squad and thanks to everyone who helped out.  MOM today, no doubt, Luke Dyke's pace was too much for the Bharat lineup!
