A poor batting performance from the Spearheads cost them in this Sunday tie at the picturesque ground in Cropston. Claredon spinner Kev Bunney took a 5 wicket haul on the way to bowling the Spearheads out for just 113. Tim Kirby top scored with 38, Brewin managed 26, and Crossley 16, but both Sommer and substitute Peter Kirby managed second ball ducks. On the positive front, youngsters Aaron Randall and Josh Pickering both batted will, lasting a number of balls and showing solid technique. Both bode well for the future.

Tea was good despite the horror stories of Max Swords, and the Huncote players took to the field with optimism. Ishaan Joshi took the first over and bowled exceptionally well, whilst Ian Crossley was solid the other end. A great leg side stumping from Frank Hubbard, and two players bowled by Joshi, including one Mark Schutz for 5, left Claredon in a spot of bother. Chris Weir though batted well despite offering one chance when his skied shot well between two fielders, and also surviving a close LBW shout. Tim Kirby was the unlucky bowler, and also took some tap late on, along with this brother Pete, as Weir looked to finish the game quickly.

All in all glad to get a game in with the weather, and positive performances from Pickering, Randall and MOM Ishaan Joshi.
