Huncote Cricket Club came out on top in the first battle of Croft Hill. Croft skipper, and regular Spearhead, Jason Scrimshire won the toss and elected to field.

Crossley returned to form with a brisk 45 not out, and had to retire according to league rules. His knock included 3 towering 6s. James Brewin started off the fast pace Huncote batting with 21 from just 9 balls, with just a couple of 6s, whilst Ross Spencer in his first outing of the season, looked assured scoring 31 at three.

Danny Adcock (11), Max Swords (9), Mitch Hubbard (15), all added quick fire runs, but captain Pete Kirby continued a worrying trend of form with another duck. Sommer scampered some late runs, Swann hit his only ball for 6, this after Ishaan Joshi felt the hands of a Huncote run out. Expect more to follow....

149-7 at the change looked a commanding total from the 16 allotted overs. Both Nav and Jason Scrimshire picked up 3 wickets each and were the pick of the bowling.

Joshi and Ben Crossley opened the bowling excellently and soon Adcock took the catch of Murphy to gain Joshi a wicket. The young quick bowler picked up another wicket, and with Crossley, Pete Kirby and Carl Sommer keeping it tight, the asking rate shot up and up.

In the end Spencer picked up a wicket, Brewin two, and Swann one, as Croft finished on 65-6, as the bowling was shared. A good knock from Hornsby scoring 24 at the top.
