Another
excellent team effort from Huncote saw them claim maximum points and go clear at
the top of the league. After being asked to bat, the top order for Huncote
all contributed with Crossley hitting 30. It was left for Tim Kirby to
steady the middle order with a quality 53 not out, as a late Dyke 6 gave the
that little extra sparkle. Decent bowling from Ivanhoe, with Studley
picking up 3 for 72, but 202-8 a big target.
It
proved too big as Huncote tore into the Ivanhoe batting line-up. Wayne
Smith the star attraction, and his 4 wickets were proof of an excellent
spell. Dyke supported with 2 off his own, including the dangerous Ibby
Khan, as the runs didn't materialise. The 2 Kirby's bowling spin at the
end finished the match off with Ivanhoe dismissed for 78.
24 points for Huncote and MOM has to go to Wayne Smith for his devastating spell, though captain Tim Kirby pushed him close.
