Tight
bowling and a good performance in the field were enough to restrict early season
league leaders Woodhouse Eaves to 166-9 from their 45 overs, and set Huncote up
for their first victory of the season. Stand in Captain Wayne Smith with 22
Overs mostly up hill (4-72) and Luke Knight (Onion Head Dyke!!) 17 Overs (4-60)
were the pick of the Huncote bowling attack. S Markley (33) cut powerfully and
young wicketkeeper Newbold (41) were the pick of the Woodhouse batsmen.
Huncote were forced to make 2 changes from their previous games as Carl Sommer failed a late fitness test and captain Tim Kirby was forced to miss out due to refereeing commitments.
Woodhouse were also missing a few key players and lost captain B Collins at 6pm due to a previous commitment.
Huncote started slowly and lost early wickets but were lead to victory by the 2 James's - Swann (6 not out) and Brewin (85 not out). All of the batsmen chipped in for a good team victory, Sword(17) and M Hubbard (14) set-up by the excellent efforts of Smith & Knight with the ball
Huncote now take the confidence of their first victory of the season to Leicester Ivanhoe looking to welcome back captain Tim Kirby
