Huncote CC Results 2002 - 18/19 May 2002

First Team
Great Glen V Huncote - Match cancelled (wet pitch, rain)
Second Team
Huncote 2nds V Great Glen 2nds

What A Come Down After 2 wins on the trot the seconds came down to earth with a bump.  After waiting nearly 2 hours to play and the opposition seem reluctant to play it was decided on a 54 over match Eddie lost the toss again and we were put into bat. >From then on things went downhill Frank and Jamie opened against some decent bowling Jamie was first out to a decent catch Alan James & Dave quickly followed Eddie joined Frank and a small stand was achieved but soon broken the two got double figures with league debutant James Swann the only other batsman getting into double figures we were 56-9 off our 29 overs. J.W. opened the bowling with a maiden but Brew went for 12 off his first over and things didn't get any better for him going for 26 off just 3 overs he was replaced by Rikki Swann who struck in his first over Frank got another stumping off J.W. but Great Glen reached the target off just 14 overs therefore winning by 7 wickets.

Sunday Team
Northampton Cavaliers V Huncote CC - Cavaliers win by 4 wickets

On a blustery day in Northampton, Huncote batted first, with a new opening partnership of Peter Kirby, and Ian Crossley.  After a brisk first few balls, the opening bowler just got one in the right spot and Kirby chased it a little and was caught behind for 3.  Max Swords came in, made a brisk 23 before being bowled by Betty Driver attempting a pre empted shot into the gap at mid on.  Batsman came and went for small scores, only Crossley offering any resistance.  Driver snared Al Sommer, Jamie Smith and James Swann.   Tim Kirby, Geoff Farmer, Frazer Hubbard, and James Brewin all departed for small scores, and the team were bowled out for 103, Crossley top scoring with 48.  A disappointing score for the Leicestershire side.

A better performance with the ball followed as Tim Kirby, Ian Crossley, Geoff Farmer, Max Swords, and James Swann, all bowled well restricting the batsman scores.  But Northampton limped home with a couple of overs to spare.  The fielding was a little disappointing all round, and fines were imposed accordingly.  See you next week for more exciting cricket (?).
