Huncote CC Results 2002 - 08/09 June 2002

First Team

Huncote CC 1st XI V Stoke Golding CC

Difficult match for Huncote this week who had two senior players Crossley and Driver, suffering illness.  Add to that the indifferent form of star strike bowler Tim Kirby who struggled in the wet with his run up, and the lack of form of some of Huncote's batsman and this meant the team struggled.  Losing the toss Stoke Golding were asked to bat and found it hard going, eventually bowled out for 122, with Knibbs the pick of the bowlers with 18 overs, 3 for 33.

Huncote should have passed this total from their 43 overs but excellent bowling and by now an indifferent wicket caused problems.  Ross Spencer hit a massive 6 and Carl Spencer played a solid innings as the team were left stranded at the end on 90-9 with Tim Kirby and Carl Sommer performing admirable in lasting the final four over onslaught.  Still this game may prove to be points dropped at the end of the year.

MOM: Paul Knibbs - a great bowling spell.
